Contracted Fee-Reduction Services

To enable persons of distinguished service to the state living in areas without a VHS Hospital or far from one to receive more convenient medical care, private hospitals are designated and operated as contracted (outsourced) hospitals.

Eligible patients for contracted fee-reduction services

Eligible for Fee-Reduction Medical Services (Veterans Registered After July 1, 2012)

Veterans: An individual with priority, such as the spouse or a bereaved family member (if the authorized person is a parent, one individual is designated through consultation, etc.)
Recipients of National Merit Benefits: Applicable only to the spouse or the spouse designated as an individual granted priority among bereaved family members

Scope of Support for Fee-Reduction Contracted Services

60% of the patient’s out-of-pocket medical expenses, excluding the portion covered by the insurer (for inpatient fee-reduction services, a 90% reduction applies for Vietnam War veterans, up to KRW 2 million)

100% coverage of non-insurance-covered medical expenses; from October 2022, support for outpatient prescription drug costs is provided (subject to an annual per-person limit, excluding bereaved family members).

Procedure for Accessing Contracted Hospitals

Please visit the designated contracted hospital and present your Veteran ID or Resident Registration Card to verify your eligibility before receiving medical treatment.
