Service in a Frontline Area in Korea |
Those who served or participated in defoliant spraying operations in areas adjacent to the Southern Limit Line between October 9, 1967, and January 31, 1972, as soldiers or civilian military personnel under the Military Service Act, the Military Personnel Management Act, or the Act on the Personnel Management of Civilian Military Employee, and who have since been discharged or retired, and who suffer from diseases specified in Article 5, Paragraphs 1 and 2 of the same Act [Article 5, Paragraphs 1 and 2 of the Act on Assistance to Patients Suffering from Actual or Potential Aftereffects of Defoliants and Establishment of Related Organizations] |

Second-Generation Patient Suffering |
Those who have been determined and registered, under Articles 4 and 7 of this Act as persons subject to the Act due to having a disease listed in each subparagraph of Article 5, Paragraph 1, and the children of those recognized under Article 8 as deceased patients suffering from the actual aftereffects of defoliants, who were conceived after their parent participated in the Vietnam War or after serving or participating in defoliant spraying operations in areas adjacent to the Southern Limit Line between October 9, 1967, and January 31, 1972, and who suffer from a disease specified in Article 5, Paragraph 3 of this Act [Article 5, Paragraph 3 of the Act on Assistance to Patients Suffering from Actual or Potential Aftereffects of Defoliants and Establishment of Related Organizations] |

The bereaved family members of a person who participated in the Vietnam War and was discharged, or who served in areas adjacent to the Southern Limit Line and was discharged, and who, before registration under Article 4 of the Act, were recognized to have died from actual aftereffects of defoliants corresponding to any subparagraph of Article 5, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph 1 of the Act |
